M.Div., Theologisches Seminar
Ewersbach/Germany

Sebastian is glad to be a Christian sola gratia and a Calvinist sola gratia as well. After growing up in a nominally Catholic family in Germany, the Lord pursued him, showed him the “exceeding sinfulness of sin” as well as the exceeding beauty of grace and sovereignly got a hold of him in the United States where he finally became a Christian. After seminary training in Germany (the country of his physical birth), he went back to the U.S. (the place of his spiritual birth), to pursue the best available training in solid Reformed theology at Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, the best Reformed seminary.

Sebastian’s heart is divided (or is it united?) between a passion for theological education and a passion for planting local Reformed churches. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student in Apologetics at Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. Upon completion of his residential requirements there, he will return to Germany hoping to do a dual ministry of church planting and teaching. He firmly believes a Reformation to what was once the “land of the Reformation” will only come through planting Reformed, Gospel-centered churches as well as steeping German pastors and pastors-to-be in Reformed theology. He hopes, dreams, and prays for the establishment of a Reformed Presbyterian denomination in Germany at some point in the future. Theologically, Sebastian is clearly Reformed, he champions the Westminster Confession of Faith, and he believes strongly in the privilege and duty of baptizing covenant children and raising them according to the biblical promises given to us and them. When it comes to defending the faith, he is a Van Tillian at heart, not because he thinks Van Til is cool (at least not exclusively), but because he believes Reformed and Covenant theology requires a presuppositionalist (or covenantal) approach to apologetics. It is the biblical and ergo the most effective way of defending the faith and challenging all forms of unbelief.

Sebastian is instrumentally involved in the publishing of a Reformed magazine in Germany the first issue of which is scheduled to appear in 2006. In his spare time, he is a blogger over at his blog “LebensQuellen” (which means “sources of life”). Sebastian, his wife Isabel, and their two girls Sophia and Tabea, as well as a yet unborn child, currently live in Baden-Baden/Germany, in the beautiful Black Forest, a place of luscious woods, gentle hills and good wines, all of which he thoroughly enjoys.
